The Sports Beat
The Sports Beat is a weekly show covering high school and other local sports in the Central Susquehanna Valley. The show includes highlights from the week of live SECV8 high school sports broadcasts, as well as exclusive interviews with local student athletes and alumni, coaches, administrators, and local media members, along with other features.
Matt Catrillo is the host of The Sports Beat and Lead Announcer for SECV8. Matt has been hosting The Sports Beat and announcing for SECV8 on a part-time basis for the last six and a half years, before being brought on to a full-time role in November 2023. In addition, Matt also does Bucknell University Play-By-Play for the Patriot League on ESPN, and is the Public Address Announcer at Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium for Bucknell Football and Sojka Pavilion for Bucknell men’s and women’s basketball.
Before SECV8 on a full-time basis, Matt was the News Director/Anchor for the last six and a half years at Newsradio 1070 WKOK, as well as the morning anchor on 94KX, and also was the Producer of The Steve Jones Show for four years, and still contributes to the show weekly.
After graduation from Clarion University in May 2015, Matt was first brought in to WKOK as a reporter, then worked his way up to news anchoring, as well as anchoring the afternoon sports. Matt was also the play-by-play broadcaster for Lewisburg High School football on 100.9 The Valley during the 2015 season.

Matt left Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation in February 2016 for the Lebanon Daily News/GameTimePA.com, where he was stationed for a year and a half. Matt started as a Sports/Features Reporter, covering a wide range of events, from Donald Trump and Ted Cruz Presidential Campaign rallies, interviewing Grammy Award winning artist Jewel, covering NASCAR at ARCA Series Racing at Pocono Raceway, the Hershey Bears, Penn State football, and Eagles Training Camp, along with local sports. Matt also made an appearance on “This Morning: America’s First News with Gordon Deal” for his story on Trump’s rally in Harrisburg.
Matt also enjoys spending time with his wife Lisa and sons Luke, Mark and John Paul.
