The Panda Hummel Station natural gas plant has been up and running for over a year now following a three-year construction period. The 1.2 billion dollar plant was built right next to the Sunbury Generation plant in Shamokin Dam. It’s interesting seeing the old sitting next to the very new plant that has all of the latest technology. One person can monitor the entire plant from the control room and there are just 4 operational people on a shift, with 35 employees working here total. It’s one of the amazing things we learned about the plant during our visit in May and you can see and hear more tonight at 6:30 and 9:30 and then throughout the month of June. That’s on “In Your Neighborhood” which you can see on SECV8, exclusively on Service Electric Cablevision channels 8 and 508 HD.
